A PP spunbond nonwoven roll is a continuous fabric made directly from polypropylene pellets — fibers are spun, stretched and thermally bonded in one process, with no weaving or knitting. It is lighter and more cost-effective than woven fabric at bulk volumes, which is why it dominates disposable medical textiles, packaging, furniture lining and shopping bags.
As a rule of thumb: 15-25 gsm for medical caps, masks and lining; 30-50 gsm for shopping bags, table covers and garment interlining; 50-80 gsm for sofa and mattress lining; 100-200 gsm for heavy-duty packaging and industrial uses. Tell us your application and we will recommend the exact gsm with a free sample.
Standard width goes up to 3.2 m and can be slit into narrow rolls from 10 mm for applications such as mask ear-loop material. Roll diameter and length are customized by gsm and width so each roll stays within your production line handling limit.
Choose PP spunbond when you need a lightweight, soft and cost-effective roll (bags, medical, packaging, agriculture). Choose PET when you need higher heat resistance and dimensional stability (roofing membrane, automotive, construction). Huayue produces both, so you can source them from one supplier.
Stock colors and standard specs: 7-10 days after deposit. Custom Pantone colors or GRS recycled material: 10-15 days. Peak season may add 3-5 days — confirm with our sales team when placing your order.
Yes. We hold GRS certification and supply recycled polypropylene (RPP) spunbond rolls with transaction certificates, helping brands meet sustainability requirements in the EU and US markets.
Why Choose Huayue as Your PP Non-woven Roll Manufacturer?
Our core in-house technology — Pantone custom colors & GRS recycled options.
Huayue PP spunbond non-woven rolls are made from 100% polypropylene in a one-step spunbond process, delivering high tensile strength, good air permeability and consistent GSM across the web. Full range from 15 to 200 gsm, widths up to 3.2 m and narrow slitting available — serving medical hygiene, packaging, furniture lining and agricultural industries.
With our in-house dope-dyeing technology, masterbatch is mixed into the polymer melt before spinning, so the color is locked inside the fiber — no fading, no batch-to-batch variation. Custom colors per Pantone TPX/TCX card with color difference controlled within ΔE≤1.5, and custom-color MOQ from 1 ton. GRS-certified recycled PP (RPP) options help sustainable brands hit their sourcing targets.
GSM Selection Guide
| GSM Range | Typical Applications | Character |
|---|---|---|
| 15 - 25 | Medical caps, masks, hygiene lining | Light, breathable, soft |
| 30 - 50 | Shopping bags, table covers, interlining | Balanced strength & cost |
| 50 - 80 | Sofa / mattress lining, separation layer | Fuller hand-feel, opaque |
| 100 - 200 | Heavy-duty packaging, industrial use | High strength, durable |
Which PP Spunbond Non Woven Roll Fits Your Application?
GSM sets strength and cost, width sets slitting waste, roll build sets line efficiency — decide all three together.
The same phrase — PP non woven roll — covers two very different products depending on where it ends up: the fabric in a medical cap and the fabric in a weed-control membrane differ in GSM, treatment and price by a factor of two or more. Go too light and you fail on strength; go too heavy and you overpay on every metre. Pick the wrong width and slitting waste eats your margin; pick the wrong roll diameter and your line stops constantly for roll changes. The table below maps the six most common applications against recommended GSM, specification notes and the mistakes buyers most often make.
| Application | Recommended GSM & spec | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Medical & hygiene | 15 - 30 gsm, slit to finished width | Caps, mask components, acquisition layers. Soft and skin-friendly with good breathability; natural or light shades, optical brighteners avoided |
| Bags & packaging | 60 - 100 gsm, 80 gsm most common | Set GSM by load rating; laminate for print or water resistance, which also raises stiffness |
| Furniture lining | 50 - 80 gsm | Must be opaque so the foam does not show through; check heat resistance so it does not delaminate when bonded |
| Agriculture | 60 - 200 gsm plus a UV masterbatch | Agricultural cover and weed-control fabric. Outdoor exposure demands UV stabiliser; black blocks the most light, green reads closer to turf |
| Industrial packaging | 100 - 200 gsm | Judge on tear and burst strength; laminate or step up the GSM where reinforcement is needed |
| Hospitality & retail | 30 - 60 gsm | Slipper uppers, laundry bags, fitting-room masks. Skin-contact items put hand-feel first; most are printed, so the surface must be flat and lint-free |
The short version: answer three questions — how much load the finished item carries, whether it lives outdoors, and whether it touches skin — to fix the GSM band. Add 2-5 cm to your finished width to set the web width. Then set roll diameter and length to whatever single-roll weight your line can handle. Send us the application, finished dimensions and expected monthly volume and we will come back with a recommended specification plus matching A4 swatches; hand-feel and strength are more reliable in your hand than on a datasheet. For applications running continuously above 100 °C — hot-air filtration, industrial laminating base — step up to PET polyester non woven roll.
Dope-Dyed & Recycled PP: Colour Built Into the Fibre
No dyeing, no fading, no batch-to-batch shade drift — with GRS-certified recycled polypropylene available per batch.
Many buyers assume colour means printing. Spunbond offers a better route: dope-dyeing, also called solution dyeing or spun-in colour. Masterbatch is blended into the polypropylene melt before the fibre is spun, so the colour becomes part of the fibre itself rather than a coating sitting on its surface. Three consequences follow. First, durability — the shade resists abrasion, washing and alcohol wiping because there is no surface layer to wear off. Second, no dye migration, which matters for medical, hygiene and baby-contact products. Third, batch consistency: reordering the same shade months later will not deliver a visibly different roll. There is an environmental angle too — dope-dyeing skips the dye bath entirely, avoiding the water use and effluent load of a conventional dyehouse, which helps brand customers clear their own environmental audits.
Beyond the process is the feedstock. Our PP spunbond lines run virgin polypropylene and recycled polypropylene (RPP) alike; RPP comes from post-consumer PP waste that is sorted, washed and pelletised before entering the same spunbond line. Huayue holds GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification covering recycled PP and recycled polyester (rPET), with a transaction certificate (TC) issued per batch so brands and third-party auditors can verify the claim — the chain is traceable from recyclate supplier to finished roll. Recycled content levels are confirmed against your application and budget, and stated in writing before you order. One caveat worth knowing upfront: recycled feedstock can shift the base shade slightly depending on its origin, so for tight colour requirements we always sample first and only then move to bulk. In performance, RPP non-woven matches virgin material closely in strength and hand-feel, covering packaging, shopping bags, furniture lining and agricultural cover.
- Colour inside the fibre, not on it — Abrasion-, wash- and wipe-resistant with no migration risk — suited to medical, hygiene and baby-contact products.
- Tight colour control — Matched to Pantone TPX/TCX cards within ΔE 1.5, so repeat orders hold the same shade.
- Custom thresholds & lead time — Dope-dyed custom colours from 1 ton, 10-15 days; stock shades ship in 7-10 days.
- Recycled PP & certification — GRS certified with a per-batch transaction certificate (TC) for brand sustainability audits; recycled content confirmed by application.
Bulk & Wholesale Non Woven Roll: Roll Build, MOQ and Cost
From sample to container, four specification fields decide your landed cost — GSM, web width, roll diameter and core.
A bulk enquiry usually arrives as a short number: a tonnage, a width, a grammage. That is enough to quote, but not enough to quote well. A non woven roll is specified on four axes — GSM, web width, roll diameter and core diameter — and each one changes both the production run and how tightly the rolls pack into a container. Buyers who fix all four before asking for a wholesale price routinely find that trim waste and freight fall, not because they negotiated harder, but because the roll build finally matched the industrial line it will run on.
Roll build is where most of the hidden cost sits. A jumbo roll carries more metres per unit of packaging and loads tighter, which lowers delivered cost per kilogram; a cut roll adds slitting and rewinding, but removes handling work at your end. Roll diameter should be set by what your unwinder can physically take, and core diameter by your shaft — 76 mm (3 inch) is the export default, and anything else usually means the roll cannot be mounted on arrival. Width deserves the same attention: ordering 50 mm wider than the line consumes looks harmless, but on a 1.6 m web it is roughly 3% of material paid for and thrown away as edge trim. For heavier builds, state ply count and bond method rather than only a target grammage — a two- or three-ply laminated roll can reach the same GSM with a different hand, stiffness and cost from a single-ply web.
- Jumbo versus cut roll — Jumbo rolls load tighter and cost less per kilogram; cut rolls add slitting cost but remove in-house handling.
- Diameter and core — Set roll OD to what your unwinder accepts and core ID to your shaft — 76 mm (3 inch) is the standard for export.
- Web width and trim waste — Order the width the line actually consumes; an oversize web becomes edge trim you have already paid for.
- Layered and laminated builds — Specify ply count, bond method and target GSM separately — lamination reaches the same grammage with a different hand.
- Industrial applications — Filter media, geotextile backing, furniture interlining and automotive trim each run their own GSM and width band — state the end use and the spec follows.
